Hellebore (Lenten Rose) Honeymoon Series: Rome in Red

$29.99Price

If you’ve enjoyed the double-flowered Hellebores of the Wedding Party series, try the equally lovely single-flowered selections of the HONEYMOON® Series for plants with notable vigor, showy floral displays with large numbers of blossoms per plant, and rich flower colors.

Helleborus 'Rome in Red' bears 3-4”, single rich maroon to wine red flowers.

Hellebores are the harbingers of spring, blooming for six weeks or more beginning in late winter.  They are often flowering during the Christian season of Lent, from which they get their common name, Lenten Rose.  This is the perfect plant for naturalizing in moist, woodland areas where its extensive root system will spread as far as it is allowed.

GROWN AS NATURE INTENDED: We let nature decide when our plants grow and when to bloom rather than force them using any steroids or chemicals.  We leave perennials outside all year with snow, rain, blazing sun, or anything else nature decides, to ensure that you are getting a viable plant.

SHIPPING INFORMATION

Each plant is selected and prepared for shipping. Plants are removed from their container, foliage is trimmed to minimize stress during transit, and soil content is reduced. The process is designed to preserve the condition of the plants from nursery to arrival.  Every plant root system is individually wrapped with wet paper towels around the root system before putting in a waterproof sleeve.

Often the foliage may look dismal and wilted and soak the roots in a container of water for a few hours or, if planting outside, fill the hole you’ve prepped with water before putting in the plant.

We are known for providing unusual and rare varieties of plants and constantly look for unusual and rare plants that you can't find in box stores or garden centers with my focus being on perennials and some annuals for spring. While other nurseries and garden centers carry shrubs, berries, trees etc., (which is very important)  I have the luxury of indulging my obsession with varieties of unusual flowers - ending up with 20-30 different choices for a category or variety. Ensure your flower beds will be a unique showstopper.

  • When your plant(s) arrive, carefully remove them from packaging, protecting the plant from separating from the root base, and soak them in water for a few hours and/or after preparing a home for them, fill the hole with water first.  Once the plants are in the ground, we are not responsible for loss due to improper planting, weather, cats landing while running from the dog, soil conditions, small children helping, pests or rodents damage, or being stepped on.
