Fern - Deer Fern (Evergreen)

$19.99Price

This fern is unusual as it has two types of leaves. The sterile leaves have flat, wavy-margined leaflets that arch gracefully, while the fertile leaves stand upright and have much narrower leaflets, each with two thick rows of sori * on the underside. It typically goes dormant in winter.  Deer Fern have a moderate growth rate up to 4'.

GROWN AS NATURE INTENDED: We let nature decide when our plants grow and when to bloom rather than force them using any steroids or chemicals.  We leave perennials outside all year with snow, rain, blazing sun, or anything else nature decides, to ensure that you are getting a viable plant.

SHIPPING INFORMATION

Each plant is selected and prepared for shipping. Plants are removed from their container, foliage is trimmed to minimize stress during transit, and soil content is reduced. The process is designed to preserve the condition of the plants from nursery to arrival.  Every plant root system is individually wrapped with wet paper towels around the root system before putting in a waterproof sleeve.

We are known for providing unusual and rare varieties of plants and constantly look for unusual and rare plants that you can't find in box stores or garden centers with my focus being on perennials and some annuals for spring. While other nurseries and garden centers also have shrubs, berries, trees etc., I have the luxury of indulging my obsession with varieties of unusual flowers - ending up with 20-30 different choices for a category or variety. Ensure your flower beds will be unique.

*Fern sori are clusters of spore-producing structures called sporangia, which are typically found on the underside of a fern's fronds. These structures are key to fern reproduction

  • When your plant(s) arrive, carefully remove them from packaging, protecting the plant from separating from the root base, and soak them in water for a few hours and/or after preparing a home for them, fill the hole with water first.  Once the plants are in the ground, we are not responsible for loss due to improper planting, weather, cats landing while running from the dog, soil conditions, small children helping, pests or rodents damage, or being stepped on.
